Offline & sync
MD Editor is designed to keep your work safe even if your connection drops. Most issues come down to local saves vs. server sync.
Quick checklist
- Confirm you’re signed in and the document is in a workspace (Scratchpad is local-only).
- Check your connection (try toggling offline/online or switching networks).
- Keep the tab open for a few seconds after typing so sync can run.
“My edits aren’t syncing”
Try these in order:
- Keep the editor tab open for ~10 seconds (sync runs in the background).
- Make sure you’re online, then refresh the page.
- If the doc appears stale in another tab/device, refresh that tab/device too.
If you still see “pending” or “not synced” after a couple minutes online, collect:
- the document title
- approximate time of the edit
- your browser + OS
and send it to support: mdedit.ai/contact (opens in a new tab).
“I lost content after closing the tab”
MD Editor saves locally first, then syncs. The most common cause of loss is closing the tab immediately after a big paste/edit.
- After large edits, wait a few seconds before closing.
- If you’re in a flaky network environment, prefer the Desktop App for long sessions: Desktop App overview.
“Another tab didn’t update”
If you have the same document open in multiple tabs:
- Refresh the other tab to pull the latest server version.
- Avoid editing the same document in two tabs at once (last-write-wins behavior can feel confusing).
