Version history
Version history helps you recover from mistakes and understand how a document changed over time.
How versions are created
- Versions are created automatically while you work (the app may snapshot versions periodically).
- If you don’t see any versions yet, keep writing for a bit — versions appear once there’s enough activity.
Local vs cloud backup
mdedit.ai keeps the latest 20 versions per article on your device. Depending on your plan/retention settings, older versions may also age out of cloud backup, so version history is recovery history rather than permanent archival storage.
Common tasks
- Compare two versions (diff)
- Restore an older version after an accidental edit
- Confirm a change before publishing/exporting
