Plans & limits
mdedit.ai has three plans: Free, Standard, and Premium. Open Settings → Subscription to see your current plan, live usage meters, and the limits that apply to your account. The pricing page (opens in a new tab) has current purchase details.

Exact metered allowances appear in Settings → Subscription so you can see current usage and renewal timing without relying on a copied number in a guide.
What “Sync Limit” means
Free accounts can keep three documents in cloud sync. When the status indicator says Sync Limit, the current document is still saved locally but cannot join cloud sync until you remove another document from sync or change plans. Local-only documents do not appear on other devices and are not cloud backups.
AI choices
- Managed AI uses models and provider credentials operated by mdedit.ai. Free includes the managed default for limited use; Premium includes managed usage subject to fair-use limits.
- BYOK uses provider keys you save in Settings → AI Assistant. Standard uses BYOK for ongoing cloud AI requests.
- Local AI is available on Standard and Premium in the desktop app. It connects to Ollama or another OpenAI-compatible endpoint on your device or private network, and local inference does not consume hosted AI credits. See Local AI.
Agent mode has a monthly run allowance on Free and Standard. Quick actions that start agent workflows use that allowance; ordinary local formatting actions do not.
When a limit is reached
The app keeps local document edits available and shows an upgrade or configuration action for the blocked cloud operation. Check Settings → Subscription for the relevant meter. If a provider key is required, open Settings → AI Assistant instead.
